Breast Augmentation (Breast Implant) is a cosmetic procedure to increase the size of the breast by introducing a synthetic implant behind the mammary gland or behind the pectoral muscle supporting the mammary gland. This surgical procedure is often combined with a Breast Lift (Mastopexy).
Procedure Details & Information
Mild sagging or droopiness of the breasts
|1 - 1.25 hours|
|Under a general anaesthetic an incision is made in the crease under the breast or in the lower border of the areola (dark skin around the nipple). A pocket is made behind the breast tissue or behind the pectoral muscles. Sometimes a dual plane technique is used (a pocket behind the muscle as well as a small one in front) to help correct sagging or droopiness. An implant is then inserted. There are several types of implants (including the newest gummy-bear type silicone implants) as well as many different shapes and sizes. The incision is then closed. A dressing and a supportive bra is then used.|
