The eyes are the most expressive elements of the face. Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) is a cosmetic procedure aimed at correcting heavy, wrinkled or baggy eyelids and restoring a fresher, more youthful look to the eyes. The operation consists of the removal of excess eyelid skin as well as removal of bags under the eyes when needed, while preserving the natural expression.

| Under a general anaesthetic an incision is made in the upper eyelids hidden within the natural fold of the eyelid. Excess skin, stretched muscle, and protruding fat is removed. In the lower eyelid, if only protruding fat is of concern, an incision is made behind the eyelid (completely hidden) and the extra fat is removed. If there is excess skin and sagging muscle, an incision is made just below the eyelashes. The excess skin and muscle is then excised and the lower lid tightened. Extra fat is also removed. The incisions are closed with fine sutures. Small bandages are then applied. | |
